Aim Higher

With almost 60 years combined experience in advertising, Jim and Tom bring a seasoned perspective to their creative approach.

And it shows in the work.

Tom Simmons, Creative Director

He read Jerry Della Femina's book (From Those Wonderful Folks Who Gave You Pearl Harbor, 1970, Simon and Schuster) and decided advertising was the best job in the world. Tom started out as a copywriter on the "Jog Your Mind" campaign for The American University's continuing education program. Rising quickly to the position of creative director, Tom was a principal in the development of campaigns for Litton-Amecom, Clydes and The Waldorf=Astoria, among many others. His career has included extensive work in consumer advertising, B2B and high technology. Tom and Jim began working as a creative team in 1985. On their very first ad, Tom proposed a concept and Jim responded with a loud Bronx cheer. The rest is history.

Jim Higgins, Executive Art Director

On his way to become a jazz legend, Jim took a day job at McCann-Erickson in Chicago and got hooked on advertising. Working with the Big Guns on national accounts such as Coca-Cola, Bell & Howell and Swift's Premium, Jim learned his trade while the Creative Revolution of the 60s was still happening. He rose rapidly through the ranks, working as creative director at several shops before teaming up with Tom to develop campaigns for the Occidental restaurant, the DC Committee to Promote Washington, American Chemical Society and the National Polystyrene Recycling Company, among many others. Jim's career includes significant campaigns for clients in banking, health care, sports, retail, hospitality and food services. And he still plays a mean keyboard and upright bass.
